Our Story
Founded in 1950 as a precision engineering workshop in Johannesburg, South Africa, Andrew Mentis snr. built Mentis’ reputation on innovative solutions, quality craftsmanship, custom IP and bespoke machinery for specialised manufacturing. The company has continued capitalising on its manufacturing DNA to produce world leading steel flooring systems, handrailing, expanded metal, guardrail and other lightweight structural steel products; supplying a diverse range of industries including power generation, mining, petrochemicals, automotive, construction, food, paper, and steel.
Mentis expanded internationally by acquiring Australian firm R&R Engineering (Pty) Ltd in 2012 and Rhino Grating (Pty) Ltd in 2018. Building on its growing international reputation, the company established Mentis International, its global trading arm. Mentis products are now sought after globally, across major industrial domains. The Mentis journey is one of continuous expansion, fostered through mutually beneficial, enduring partnerships with our valued customers, suppliers and key stakeholders.
In 2019, Mentis Additive Manufacturing (Pty) Ltd t/a Mentis 3D was established as a subsidiary of the Mentis Group. It was created with a clear goal: to become the biggest additive manufacturing service provider in Africa with its unique manufacturing-as-a-service platform.
